This is promo footage, which means it’s a rough edit of footage from the film. And boy, is it ever rough.

The Expendables boasts a cast of many action stars, including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Stathom, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, and even has small parts for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. With that cast, how can you go wrong?

Unfortunately, the footage doesn’t look very promising. The action is nowhere near eye-popping, and the one-liners are horrendous.

Bald Bad Guy: “Who sent you?”

Sly Stallone: “Your hairdresser!”

Funny stuff, I know. The rough promo trailer looks bad, and the comic one-liners are cringe inducing, but since there are so many big time action stars in The Expendables, it has a chance to be fun and/or interesting. I’ll give it a high-ish “two” on the Potential Meter.
